5 Minutes With...Skincare Expert Dr Lamees Of Shiffa Dubai

You don't need to ask me twice about meeting a skincare expert like Dr. Lamees Hamdan, creator of organic skincare brand Shiffa. A range that's based on healing, Dr Lamees founded Shiffa when disappointed by the availability of products for women who had fragile and sensitive skin while pregnant. We sat down to go through the range and discuss her all natural organic products. Ever met someone that's so warm and kind you just instantly love their brand that little bit more? Yes that! Here's what she had to share...

What advice would you give to someone starting to take an interest in skincare?
Your skincare routine is something that will show in 15-20 years time. I would start by cleansing properly, and twice in the day, use a muslin cloth to take away all your makeup. Secondly would be make sure to moisturise all over your face and neck - don't forget the neck!

If you had to pick your favourite Shiffa Dubai product, what would it be?
My sweetness body lotion - it's fantastic. If my skin is anything from dry to oily it takes care of it.

What's your emergency skin solution?
If you're having a bit of a skin disaster try not to wear too much makeup and if you have to keep it to a minimum. Use light refecting products and a mattifying concealer - always use a light hand to not over apply!

Do you have cure for a nasty pimple?
Apply some of Shiffa Healing Balm - it's very anti-inflamatory and contains lavender and calendula and chamomile to soothe.

Top anti-ageing tips?
- Have a good skincare routine. Cleansing once at night isn't enough - make sure to double cleanse!
- Don't forget your insides. Your skin is a reflection of your organs so make sure to drink water and exercise.

What's your all time favourite beauty tip?
I don't believe in foundations, if you have radiant skin why would you want to cover it up and make it matte? Also I wouldn't under estimate the importance of eye creams - start using them at 25-28!

How do you change your routine when travelling?
- Double up on moisturiser, and even more in the morning. I use my Healing Balm to protect against elements. Less is more but use effective products.

- Eat everything in moderation. I always say eat a rainbow! I'll add some of these Green Superfood Raw Reserve in my drink to make sure I'm getting my daily dose and I'll also drink grapefruit juice. These packets are fantastic for travelling but at home I also have Pure Synergy Dietary Supplement which is another powder I add to water.  I'll also make sure to have a lot of calcium and vitamin D.

Shiffa is available from Selfridges and prices start from £25

  5. I totally agree with her on the foundation front! I'm more inclined to splurge on skincare in order to make my face look radiant, than use foundation!

  8. I loved this blogpost. I'd say it's up there with your "Beauty on location: New York" one. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I have a question though (this might sound silly), isn't "cleansing" when you take off your make up with something like the Emma Hardie balm or the Liz Earle hot cloth clenser? Do you need to cleanse even if you don't wear makeup?
