Two Things To Do With Oats...

Bet you didn't think you'd see me cooking on here anytime soon! That's right I've got a little experimental in the kitchen with some oats, so grab your apron and come join me in making two things, the first being some oat & raisin cookies and the second being a luscious DIY oat body scrub. Be prepared to get hands a little dirty...

Oat & Raisin Cookies (makes 28)

Use:
- 270g unsalted butter
- 160g caster sugar
- 110g rolled oats
- 380g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- Raisins

After preheating the oven to 170* C Gas 3, I slapped all the sugars and butter (at room temperature) into an electric mixer and creamed until whipped. Added the eggs and then continue to mix in the vanilla extract.

In a seperate bowl I added the flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda and cinnamon and then proceeded to add that to the main mixture, stirring both together. Made palm sized balls and added raisins to each one, then placed them (spaced apart) on a tray and bake for 9-10 minutes.

Oat Body Scrub
Use:
- 1/3 cup of sea salt
- 1/4 olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of raw oats
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (for the scent!)

Stir all ingredients together in a bow to create a luscious body scrub that left my legs feeling silky smooth - think the scrub DIY version of the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil!

This was the outcome of a (very rare) productive Sunday - next Sunday will be much more chocolate focused. Are you in?
