There's something so unnatural yet appealing about slapping on a new skincare product every day. After months of persisting that my skin could handle it, that it wanted to be cleansed with an oil, micellar water and also a balm, it was time to get realistic. They say (Kathy Phillips of This Works to be precise) the skin cycle is 28 days and so the 28 day strict skincare regimen started. Here's what made the cut...
Estelle & Thild Cleansing Milk Neroli, £19 & Bliss Lid + Lash Wash Makeup Remover, £12.50
Goodbye Bioderma you're no longer for me! The Neroli ingredient lured me in as it's claimed to have healing properties, as well as the old school Milk and the natural, organic brand. Need I say more? Removes the first layer of makeup brilliantly without stripping the skin too leaving me with a clean face ready for a throughout cleanse. Bliss Lid + Lash wash removes eye makeup with such ease (I could rave about it all day but the full rave is here)
Perricone MD Nutritive Cleanser, £35
Apart from the fact this is an excellent cleanser, what really gives it the big A+ status for me is the pump! Making everything so much easier to control and monitor, not to mention how much more hygienic it is rather than sticking fingers in a pot. When on contact with a damp face the gel texture lathers up giving skin a good cleanse. This works - and it works well.
La Roche-Posay Serozinc, £5 (approx)
Since August there hasn't been a day where this light mist hasn't reached my face, in absolute fear of what I would do without it I have a skincare drawer fully stocked of backups. Soothing, hydrating and the Zinc contains qualities such as helping heal and reduce inflammation. There's just something about Serozinc I can't be without, only downside is it's only sold in France. Boo!
Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturiser, £54
Searching for a hydrating moisturiser that doesn't leave skin feeling coated or heavy? This fits that bill. A light, easily absorbed gel moisturiser that does what it says on the tin. No complaints here!
The whole forcing myself to only touch what was in the bag was hard, yes. But the results were rapid and vast - less angry looking inflamed skin, less breakouts, less oilyness, less dry patches and a happier Amelia.
PS - it helps if you relotate bathrooms for less temptation
Ppss - this is all Caroline Hirons enabled/approved
Will you be giving the 'Simple Skincare Bag' a go?
Great post! I love the sound of a gel moisturiser, but I'm not sure my bank balance does :(
ReplyDeleteAh they are lovely though!
Deletei already use my products on a monthly (or 28 day) basis/rotation, given that it's an average for how long they last (normally moisturisers for me, cleansers and toners can usually last 3 months,) until i'm scraping the bottom of the pot/tube. i find being consistent makes my skin happier, even though it really is tempting to go out, buy and then slather on the 'latest' product...
ReplyDeletei think the thing is just being persistent - but i do need to try a rosacea/redness treating product soon. :(
Ah that sounds perfect!
DeleteI think that this would actually work for me! I might also stop messing with my skin care too!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE it if some of you guys would come and check my blog out and maybe even follow, would MAKE MY DAY! :D
