Bobbi Brown Pink & Red Collection, Hits & Misses

A collection based around pinks and reds? Say no more - I'm in. Creamy lip colours, cheek tints and laquers were up Bobbi's sleeve this Valentines Day with her Pink & Red collection but there were some bumps that needed smoothing. Here's the low-down....

Bobbi Brown Nail Polish in Valentine Red & Pink Valentine £11, Sheer Colour in Sheer Pink, Sheer Cherry £18, Lip Gloss in Pretty in Pink £17, Creamy Lip Colour in Heart and Hot, £18.

Creamy Matte Lip Colour you're perfection. Blendable, pigmented, long-lasting if only you weren't as drying but I'll let that slide. Patted into lips and blended for a natural tint or applied with a lip brush for some full-on colour. Bright, matte loveliness.

Cheek tints are usually something I steer well away from - smudgy foundation, uneven application and the risk of looking a tad granny-esque. After a few swipes on the cheeks these were cast to one side for  needing a good couple minutes of blending and fingertip tapping to look decent. But after seeing Charlotte Tillbury work swifty with creams backstage at Sass & Bide I dug them back up to put her method to the test. Applied a good few coats to the back of my hand and patted onto the cheeks with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush (note: always easier using synethic brushes and cream products) Sheek, tint, dewy cheek perfection. Priced at a reasonable £18 each making them more than £5 less than the beautiful but disappointing Benefit Fine One One. Thumbs up!

Nail Polish shades - lovely. Application - not so much. Unfortunately the second layer doesn't sit well on top of the first making them appear to have an uneven texture. Such a shame they didn't bond together, even with a base and top coat... Equally unfussed with the lipgloss. Lovely minty flavour, slightly sticky texture and only a hint of colour. Nothing awful but nothing too spectacular either.

Two hits and two misses from the Bobbi Brown Pinks & Reds collection but the first ever cheek tint I've been pleased with. Has Bobbi uncovered the creamy cheek product lover in me? Who knows!

  1. The nail varnish is such a pretty girlie pink without being really barbie. I don't tend to buy high end nail varnishes other than OPI as think the ones on the high street are just as good never the less it's still really pretty if you have the money.

  6. Great review, the colours in this collection are so pretty! I've always stayed away from cream blushes too but I might give them a try with my buffing brush so thanks for the tip :) xx
