I recently had the opportunity to chat to the two ladies behind Benefit Cosmetics, Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson, about all their upcoming launches and favourite beauty tips. Enjoy!
How did Benefit come up?
Our Mom, Jean Ford, started Benefit with her sister Jane back in 1976, after achieving success as models and makeup artists, they were inspired to start a small boutique in San Francisco!
What exciting launches can we expect from Benefit coming up?
Of course Fine One One, which launches on the 22nd of January. It's very exciting because it's our first cream cheek product! Expect a new hydrating, crease control concealer, Fake Up launching soon as well as something really exciting coming up for oily skinned ladies in June!
How long did it take to develop Fine One One?
From the time we started to when it actually hit counters about three and a half years! Which is way too long but it starts with asking women what they want, what their problems with beauty products are and what they are looking for.
Annie: They're Real for great lashes and Hello! Flawless Oxygen Wow for a flawless base.
Maggie: I feel naked without my brows so Instant brow! I always say 'Brows frame your face so why put something pretty in a bad frame?' I even go to the gym with my brows on...
Do you read blogs?
Of course! We love yours, Man Repeller and Cupcakes and Cashmere.
You two are constantly travelling all over the globe, any beauty tips for travelling?
Annie: Never ever wear makeup on the plane, only moisturiser.
Maggie: Make sure to drink tons of water as the flight is so dehydrating, and bring a little snack like Mentos along with some great magazines!
What's your all time favourite beauty tip?
Annie: Always start by doing your eyes as eyeshadow falls out and can ruin the rest of your makeup and it's always easier to start over if you've only done your eyes.
Maggie: Blend even more than you think! It's really awful when I see girls with a foundation line going round their chin and jaw, especially with bronzer!
Benefit Fine One One is now on counters for £23.50 and you can read my thoughts on it here!
Everyone is talking about the find one one and I can't put my hands on it :/
ReplyDelete"It's very exciting because it's our first cream cheek product!" What about Cheekies, that was an incredible cream blush before they discontinued it!
ReplyDeleteI always thought Benefit was a fairy recent (as in the last 10yrs or so) brand, no idea it went all the way back to the 70's!
ReplyDeleteDesperate to try this new product out :)
You're so lucky that you got to meet them!! xx
